Today, the Italian fashion house Gucci announced its 2019 cruise collection would be presented in the city of Arles, located in the south of France. The fashion show will take place on the Alyscamps, a picturesque antic site, on May 30th. The large Roman necropolis is one of the most impressive of its kind and has inspired many artists and writers through the ages. It is even classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele always seeks powerful history, beauty and character in the places he picks to stage his collections and the Alyscamps seems to be a perfect choice. Arles seems to be the cornerstone of french cultural events, hosting Les Rencontres d’Arles every year, a big photography festival known internationally.
